Discover California River Gold

Responsibly mined and handcrafted in the Golden State.

Yes—gold is still being mined in California!

Our California Gold is fully traceable. Better for the environment. Better for the miners.

The gold used in our California Gold collection comes from some of the only fully-permitted mines in California and a family claim we’ve had on the Yuba River since 1994. Relying on water and gravity to extract the precious metal from sediment makes our practices much better for both the environment and miners, compared to domestic and international operations that still utilize harmful chemicals like mercury and cyanide. Workers are thoroughly trained and the premises optimized for safe working conditions. Complying with all state regulations, our operation also has full remediation plans to leave the land in the same or better condition than we found it.

A Collection Inspired by the Golden State

100% mined and made in California, inspired by the state’s natural beauty and rich history.

Each piece in our California Gold collection of wedding bands and fine jewelry is inspired in name and design by the natural beauty and rich history of the Golden State. Take for instance Sonoma, our square band named after the present-day location of California’s stand for independence, where each of the four sides represents the four powers that struggled for power: Mexico, Spain, the United States, and the wild frontier. Or Cobblestone, a ring inspired by the river stones that tumble and cover yet-to-be discovered gold.

We stamp every piece in the line with our California grizzly bear hallmark, which we have used since 1996 to authenticate it’s 100% natural California gold composition. The grizzly bear is California’s state animal and a long-standing symbol of strength and independence.

20 Karat “Green-Gold”—Uniquely Yours

We call our 20 karat alloy “green gold” in part because of the sustainable practices we use to mine the gold, but also because of its literal greenish color! Characteristic of raw California gold, its color is warm, organic and green—compare to the orangey hue of 22 karat and pure 24 karat, and yellowy or brassy hue of 14 karat.

The higher the gold purity, the softer it is. We incorporate a step in our jewelry making process that helps strengthen the metal, which helps makes it more suitable for everyday wear and destined to become a lasting heirloom. However, it will still take on a personal patina overtime with beautiful marks and indentations reflective of your lifestyle.

Our handcrafted process produces pieces that vary from one another. That means your ring, pendant, etc. is truly one-of-a-kind and unique to you.
