About Todd Bracken

Master Jeweler | Graduate Gemologist | Artisanal Miner | Artist

Growing up in the family jewelry business gave Todd early insights into establishing a successful and trustworthy operation. His parents, Lester and Darlene, had opened the first Bracken Jewelers in Illinois in 1950 and as a young teenager in the late 60s, he was already working on customers’ jewelry and watches. At the cusp of adulthood, Todd headed to California in pursuit of furthering his education with a Graduate Gemologist Certificate from the Gemological Institute of America. We like to consider his move West akin to that of the 49ers allured by state’s promise of gold, beauty and opportunity.

It was California’s rich history and natural beauty that intrigued and inspired him to start gold mining and ultimately create the California Gold Collection made from his findings. The California State Assembly even officially declared the Golden State’s 150th anniversary (2000) as Todd Bracken Day in recognition of his earth-friendly mining techniques and “years of crafting our State’s most famous bounty into award-winning jewelry”.

Todd’s breadth of work and contributions are vast and include one-of-a-kind masterpieces designed for Tiffany & Co., featured in their esteemed Blue Books. His handcrafted jewelry has been worn by Michelle Obama, Elizabeth Taylor, and Harrison Ford amongst others. And his expertly acquired collections of rare vintage watches, fine jewelry and objects are museum-worthy. We share a small sample of his expansive portfolio in the Design Archives and references to where his work or self has been featured on our Media Page.

His muses have always been nature, ancient design, and raw basic elements. Drawing from what he sees around him, the essence of what a client desires to be represented in a given piece, or the unique qualities of the rare stones and precious metals he works with is what continues to inspire his new creations.
